JOAN SANDERS
Calabash artist, Joan Sanders, is well known for her vibrant watercolors of European and local scenes, with flowers almost always a main focal point.
"Color is what inspires me," says Sanders. She feels her early experience painting in oil has also added a richness and depth not often associated with watercolor.
Traveling throughout Europe and the United States with her husband, Robert, has provided the backdrop for much of her work. Her scenic details allow us to experience, along with her, the coziness of a wisteria-laden courtyard in Santa Fe, or the exuberance of a Parisian flower market.
Sanders is a member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, as well as the Wilmington Art League, Waterway Art Association, and the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild.
Her work is exhibited at the Clark Gallery in Raleigh, NC and locally at the Sunset River Market Place Gallery on Highway 179 in Calabash, NC.
She is pleased to announce that she now offers some of her work in glicées.
